Details: I have for sale a 1996 Dodge Dakota Extended cab 4x4 with a 3.9 V-6 Magnum. When i first got this truck it was at Michaels Car Center that someone had used for a trade in. I got the truck for $800 from there and soon after found out that it had 2 cracked heads, would not hold oil pressure and needed a transmission. I pulled the motor and had Phil at Superior Motor in Wadhams machine the block. (I have the reciets to show all pricing) but the motor has a new cam, lifters, rockers, timing chain, pistons, rings, rods, distributor, oil pump, oil pan, 2 new heads and has been machined .030 over stock. Before re-installing the motor I replaced both temp sensors ( 1 for gauge and 1 for computer), TPS, Knock sensor, and vacuum solenoid. I used Royal purple 10w-30 break in oil and then switched to Mobil one full synthetic at the first oil change. This motor runs wicked smooth and has a very noticeable gain in power over a stock 3.9. Has power locks and windows, Sony head unit, Recent Tune-up i upgraded to Bosch platinum plugs, a Wix oil & air filter, BWD wires, cap, and rotor. In all I invested roughly $2800 into the motor before re-installation, which has just over 16,000 miles on it thus far (re-installed when the body had 171,498 miles on it. The body now has 187,922 miles on it) . The 42re trans I got from Scholtz in Capac. I was told that the trans had a shift kit, and it definatly performes like it does indeed. It holds lower gears untill it reaches higher RPM´s (right around 2500-3500, depending on how you accelerate) until it shifts. allowing more broad ranged power band. 3rd-4th-5th gear shift normally unless you hold the pedal down a bit. I had plans to lift this truck a few inches and put bigger tires on it, but with the price of gas it is expensive to drive the truck as far as i do as it is. I work at O´Reilly auto parts in sandusky, and would like something better on gas as it is an hour long drive. The drive train is very strong and it shifts between 2 and 4 wheel drive flawlessly. Interior is in good shape for the year. Comes with a bed mounted roll bar and working lights, Interior underglows, Great heat, and has handy tool boxes under the rear seats, 60-40 seats in the front, the middle seat has a 1 inch tear. minor stains on the carpet and the ceiling liner is drooping a little, i´m a tall guy at 6´3´ and the liner does not touch my head so it´s not too bad. There is SOME rust at the bottom of the doors and where the fenders meet the doors, but no open gaping holes. Has the typical Chrysler clear coat problem on the hood and fenders but nothing expensively irreperable. Also, the drivers door lock control switch fell behind the door panel on the driver side, but is easy to access, and it needs Break shoes and drums, and the windshield is cracked ($150 new installed at croswell glass) I am willing to move a bit on the price, as i know it is an older truck, and needs very minor work. It is a buy it and drive it home deal. contact me to take it for a ride. No low ballers, and i´m not parting it out. I know its not a new truck but I have a lot of time and money wrapped into it and dont plan on taking a loss on it. I dont have to get rid of it but i would LIKE to buy a gas sipper.
