Details: For sale is my 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan SE AWD (all wheel drive) with about 142,000 miles. I´ve had it for two years and 20,000 miles. Title in hand, looks clean to me.Mechanics Special!Here´s my honest assessment of the vehicle:It definitely runs but has the common issue about the rocker arms failing to get oiled. I guess the bearing on the camshaft will rotate out of alignment thus preventing oil from flowing up to the rockers. This is the front bank of cylinders so at least they are really easy to get to. Happens occasionally but enough to have caused some wear. Rockers are currently rattling because they are loose. Still function, but loose. I suppose you could say this is ´out of spec´.Does not seem to burn oil. I go through maybe a quart during the 3000 miles between oil changes. In many automotive circles this qualifies as normal so I´ve never worried about it. No worse, and actually better, than some other cars I´ve had.Here´s what I can´t figure out. When it gets good and warmed up the low oil pressure light will come on while idling at a stop. Increase the idle speed just the slightest bit (put it in neutral) and it stops. Run the kids to school and back it doesn´t happen. Drive to Iowa City it happens.The transmission pan bolts sometimes need tightened. This is where I seem to get the drips from. No idea why they come loose, I suppose I could crank them tighter but I don´t want to strip them.Put a new (rebuilt) starter on it in November 2010.New tires in December 2010, about 10,000 miles on them.The body is nearly rust free. There´s a little along the bottom of one sliding door.The body appears just fine, a few dings and scratches because it´s 14 years old. The back end was repainted for some reason prior to me owning it. No idea. Clear coat is now peeling in places back there.Rear quarter ´vent´ windows don´t power open for some reason. I can open them manually and then they will power shut but not open again. I stopped messing with them.Passenger window motor works but I think the mechanism doesn´t line up right so it binds. I just leave it up.Driver window seems to work fine!Power mirrors only work to move in certain directions. So I set them and forget them. I was the only driver so they never had to move.All wheel drive seems to work just fine. Great when the roads are snowy!Brakes work fine, except parking brake cable comes unhooked from one back wheel. The resulting slack in the cable means the other side won´t tighten up so I just don´t use it.Interior is in good shape. It´s 14 years old but fairly clean, and free of rips, burns, and wear.Non-smoking vehicle. I sure can´t tell it´s ever been smoked in but maybe it was a long time ago.And a nearly full tank of gas! That´s over $50 right there.So with any car, watch your fluids, listen for the noises and I think it will take you far.I´m thinking $950, cash only. It will be sold as-is.
